Local Health Board Research & Development Support
Each Local Health Board in Wales has a responsibility to lead on research and development across the organisation, including primary care practices, community staff and hospital staff.
IRH is in a position to offer it's services to rural LHBs in Wales.
R&D Support
The type of support IRH can offer includes:
- Provide advice and support to staff undertaking research in the LHB, in the design, implementation, management, and development of research projects. This support is available during all stages of a research project from proposal to publishing, including assistance developing the proposal, formulating the methodology, obtaining external funding, complying with research governance, undertaking fieldwork, writing a final report, and developing a dissemination package.
- Seek external funding opportunities for research and development projects, and offer assistance with applications.
- Organise and facilitate R&D Seminars on topics including critical appraisal, quantitative and qualitative research, research governance for managers, presentation skills, and dissemination.
- Facilitate the development of links with potential partner organisations (e.g. academic institutions) for joint research activity.
- Raise awareness of LHB Research & Development Strategy across the LHB, work with LHB staff to facilitate set up of new research projects under the research strategy, assist LHB with audit of projects to ensure compliance with approved research protocol.
- Support the LHB R&D Committee by, for example, identifying potential independent appraisers.
- Communicate with LHB staff (e.g. through LHB Staff Magazine, or a separate research and development newsletter) on training, potential research opportunities, and available funding streams.
